Industrial Technology to Reduce Risks
One industrial technology that is used by Monsanto to reduce the risks of Roundup is genetically modified seeds. These seeds are glyphosate-tolerant, so they produce a different enzyme that performs the same function as the enzyme targeted by the glyphosate, however they are not affected by glyphosate. Using this technology, it reduces the risk of accidental Roundup contact affecting the plants, and therefore reduces financial risks of losses. It also means that farmers can spray Roundup on a field without worrying about killing the crop, which increases efficiency and therefore has financial and social benefits.
